In some areas, these rugs were handed down from one generation to another, and were often the family’s most prized possession due to the work and energy it took to make one.

Every rug should be well made with color fast dyes and good yarns and straight seams regardless of whether it is hand made of silk or machine made of wool. I thought that a mix of contemporary furniture and a historic carpet would imply the ascent of man and that we are continuing to evolve. Often I use a carpet to pull in all of the color elements of an interior and its adjoining views and gardens to create a harmonious continuum.
